B is the unfinished pit.
A is cased in stone below, then mud brick and above rubble. The mud brick was much weathered before the rubble wall was built. In the debris near the foot of the mud brick casing, a number of potsherds, [ILLUSTRATION] red ware cups [14-11-131, 14-11-132], two scarabs (one minute) [14-11-123, 14-11-124], an ivory wand [14-11-128], a blue marble kohl pot with alabaster lid [14-11-125], [ILLUSTRATION] small [jar] of fine drab ware [14-11-129], a rude faience cup (minute) [ILLUSTRATION] [14-11-126], beads, etc. This group appears to me New Kingdom or perhaps a little earlier, and come from an intrusive burial.

News of the capture of Bassorah by the British-Indians. Official report of a skirmish between Bikanir camel men (twenty in number) and Turks (or Bedouin) not far from el-Kantara. Twenty coast guards captured by Turks, thirteen B.C. killed and two native officers, three B.C. wounded. The five survivors reached main supports. Claim to have wiped out two small parties of about twenty each and to have been driven in fighting by about three hundred (300) cavalry.
Fighting between Wasta and Vistula appears to be turning in favor of Russians.
