G 5234
In the forecourt of G 5234, an inclined shaft runs down under the mastaba. This was built of masonry in the hard debris. The main shaft is closed with blocks of limestone like G 2387 A. [ILLUSTRATION] But the thieves have gone in between the two roofs and the chamber is full of sand.
G 5235
The chamber of G 5235 A breaks through into another chamber approached by a passage like the above.
G 5330
In the mud of the mound at the northeast corner of G 5330, we found the face of an alabaster royal statue two-thirds or three-fifths life-sized - presumably Khafre [14-12-1]. This fits a throat [14-11-206] found with the black granite fragments between G 5230 N and G 5235.
G 5221
G 5221 B contains a built up stone coffin - broken open behind.
Wednesday, December 2, 1914
Work on G 5221 A, G 5234 A (finished), G 5235 A (finished except entrance), part in front of G 5234 and G 5235 (surface debris).
G 5234
The chamber of G 5234 A had been completely plundered. Found three limestone canopes.
G 5235
G 5235 A presents a puzzle. The pit descends into an unfinished chamber approached by an incline (as G 5234 A). The inclined shaft is not yet exposed outside but appears to be closed with stones. The chamber entered by this shaft is unfinished - a stone box is in the middle only partially cut out. The vertical shaft comes through the roof in the northwest corner.
