The door into the chamber is on the east side, and on the lintel has the following inscription: [GLYPHS].
A large door socket was found in the sand south of M 121 [MQ 121], while a few unimportant fragments were found in the debris of pits G 2377 A and of G 2338 X.

Day of rest

Tuesday, January 14, 1913

Began removing the bodies form the pits excavated this year. In cleaning G 2375 Y, a few carnelian beads and two amulets, almost shapeless in form.

My morning was spent showing the Haynes of Cambridge over the works, the afternoon in check up the map.

Over the southern niche in MQ 130 is the following inscription: [GLYPHS]. This is in red ink on the wall, and is the artist's drawing for an inscription that was never finished.

Wednesday, January 15, 1913

From G 2335 A brought up a fine wooden coffin. With great care we were able to bring up the coffin intact, after removing the lid and body. Though the coffin was first opened some two weeks ago, no objects were found in it except a wooden staff and a wooden head-rest. The body was wrapped in coarse linen which is blackened to such an extent by decay as to look as if it had been damaged by fire. The boards of which the coffin is made are very uneven, but despite the curves, the joining is done perfectly. The boards are held together by mortises and on the bottom and cover by cleats, three to each. The cleats of the cover projected so: [ILLUSTRATION] . These were arranged to fit into the sides in such a way that the cover could not be raised
