Serdab 3 (S 3) in G 2336. Roof uncovered just at sunset. Through hole in roof at back (west), the back of a wooden statuette is visible.

Crowfoot came, bringing MacKenzie about 4:30. MacKenzie has been engaged by Wellcome for Sudan Expedition.

G 2336, serdab 2, proved to be a burial (lettered E).
G 2336, serdab 3, proved to contain three wooden statuettes [12-10-34, 12-10-35, 12-10-36] not in very good condition. This mastaba presents a type not found before in a cemetery - no offering chamber, offering niche in middle, and a serdab in each front corner. The masonry is not stepped, but battered. No core structure. A simple filled mastaba.

G 2360 on the north appears to be much the same type. In the southeast corner is a well-made stone-lined serdab, filled with rubbish. The diorite fragments from the street in front probably came from this serdab.
