The star marks apparently the end of the corridor proper and the southeast corner of the temple. The corridor continues east under the sand but the inner wall is narrower than the temple wall (i.e. of the same width as the outer corridor wall). The Dynasty 6 temple wall apparently runs on and encloses a larger area (the "city of the pyramid Men-kau-ra-netery").

In one of the rooms a wine jar [ILLUSTRATION] of Naga ed-Deir pottery Type I.

The Lowell-Putnam's came to see the Khufu cemetery, dined with us and watched a zikr given by the workmen after diner.

Still pushing east along corridor, have reached a point about 6 meters east of star on page 33. At this point there is a broad doorway in the north wall of the corridor but the corridor runs on eastwards. The Dynasty 6 south wall seems to cease at about the star on page 33, perhaps washed away.

Friday, March 18, 1910

Clearing mud debris east of "temple proper" (see above). Here again we have mud-brick houses. The floors have been broken by ancient excavations at various points (previous to Middle Kingdom, I think) although there are nearly 4 meters of sand on top. Under this upper layer of houses is a lower stratum of store rooms and house walls. In the lower debris, fragments of stone vessels, statues, etc.
