Sadig Osman and Tahir mounted "Rupert" and "Duke" respectively. West of pyramid I they were galloping. "Duke" ran away with Tahir and ran into a British convalescent soldier Pt. Pat Sullivan No. 323, 6th Munster Fusiliers and kicked him unconscious. Tahir was thrown off and cut his right knee badly. Sullivan taken in automobile to Mena House. Tahir arrested. I went down, saw Mulahiz of Police, saw Sullivan, expressed regrets.

Opened plundered serdab in north end (northeast corner). Filled with hard debris. Finished pit A sand. Opened other pits.

In G 4517, uncovered small chamber nearly destroyed.

Opened western row of pits in G 4614 and cleared away walls of intrusive pit A1 exposing pit A2.

(4) Between G 4513, G 4517, G 4614 and enclosure wall
The space between these mastabas G 4513, G 4517, G 4614 and the Great Wall is filled with stones fallen from Great Wall [ILLUSTRATION]. Hard debris below, stone in sand above.
Fallen after construction (after disuse?) of mastaba.

Mr. and Mrs. Quibell brought Miss. Bell, Col. and Lady Leeds to visit excavations. Sir John French replaced by Douglas Haig. Good.
