Work on
(1) pit G 4910 B
(2) G 4815-G 4817 complex
(3) south of G 4817
(4) north side of Great Wall

(1) G 4910
Work finished on pit G 4910 B. The pit descends to about 16 meters, with the chamber to the south. Two small fragments of a yellow limestone statuette [15-12-12a, 15-12-12b] were found in the chamber. Recent sand and stone debris. Pit cleared by Schiaparelli.

(2) G 4815-G 4817 complex
Work continued on complex west of G 4910. G 4815 X is not a pit. Traces of the north wall and far older mastaba were found as also traces of a mud offering chapel to the north. Pit G 4816 G exposed. Manifestly the complex G 4815, G 4816, G 4817 is of later date, built over the ruins of older mastabas. Its relation to the G 4810 complex is not yet quite clear, but G 4815 etc. seems to be later. Remaining sand cleared from G 4817 O, disclosing gap in west wall, and a flat slab (stela of roof stone) lying on the floor. The stela noted yesterday as in the west wall near the north end does not exist. The serdab of G 4817 was found empty.

(3) South of G 4817
Work continued clearing sand to south of G 4817.

(4) North side of enclosure wall
Work started in sand along north side of Great Wall, just east of railroad cutting.
