Saturday, January 17, 1914

New foundation for causeway being put up between G 4420 and G 4320. Causeway between G 4530 and G 4430 being taken away and also sand between G 4430 and G 4440.
Small later pits and chamber being cleared of debris between mastabas.

[G 4530 A]: Pit No. G 4530 continuing to be cleared of debris, and huge door slab broken up in order to finish pit which goes down about 250 cm below the chamber entrance.

Causeway from G 4420 continuing; sand being taken from between G 4530 and G 4430, small burials being cleared; and remaining debris and stones from causeway on top of G 4630 being cleared and thrown into pit.

Monday, January 19, 1914

Men's day off.
Hot south sandstorm raged all day.
To Cairo to bank and also to Museum regarding boxes of antiquities from Assuan.

Tuesday, January 20, 1914

[G 4530 A]: Pit G 4530 finished showing a smaller pit at the bottom:

Debris between G 4530 and G 4430 found the same as in diagram on page 2. A few small pits and a small mastaba here exposed.

Wednesday, January 21, 1914

Work continued all day clearing street between G 4530 and G 4430, exposing mud rooms, small pits, etc. and a small offering niche at the front of the big offering door in G 4430 (see C5542 and C5543).

Thursday, January 22, 1914

Sand being removed all day from between G 4430 and G 4440 and also G 4330 and G 4340. Causeway raised about 150 cm over G 4330 so entire dumping field to west of excavations can be reused.

Friday, January 23, 1914

Sand between G 4430 and G 4440 being cleared and also from between G 4330 and G 4340; and from G 4430 and G 4340 where a section of mud debris and stone chips lay between beds of sand above and
