The whole shaded portion had not been excavated - either by some negligence on Schiaparelli's part or by some chicanery on the part of his workmen. His reis was Ibrahim Faid just sentenced to five years prison for theft! It is possible that Ibrahim intentionally left this southern part for later illicit excavations.
Sent off fifteen men to Girga by 9:30 train.
