Friday, March 11, 1910

Work on pyramid 4 chapel resumed. The greater part of the debris (surface) was out by 4 p.m.
At 11 a.m. started a gang of shovel men throwing the sand from the next section on the east back onto inner court. At 4 p.m. all hands driven out of temple 4 by wind and went on at valley temple.

The Lowell-Putnams came to visit the excavations.

Saturday, March 12, 1910

All hands on valley temple on sand above outer(?) court. Three railway lines running west, with four carts. Two shovelmen were tossing sand into each cart. The carts alone carried out over 600 loads (=300 tons) of sand. The rest of the men worked with baskets on the north and south ends inaccessible to carts. By evening the whole south half of the inner court was nearly fully of sand, and I ordered the rails shifted to fill the north west quarter.

Petrie came to lunch, admired the statue exceedingly.

Work on sand as yesterday.

Monday, March 14, 1910

Day of rest.
Cylindrical stone vessels practically finished. The forms [ILLUSTRATION] and [ILLUSTRATION] started.

Tuesday, March 15, 1910

Work on sand as before. Corridor cleared for about 12 meters. Pots in the debris and on the floor as farther west. Also Dynasty 6 wall on crushed Dynasty 4 wall.
Weather continues bad - cold and windy.

Wednesday, March 16, 1910

Sand removed from south part of new strip and work begun on removing mud debris.
