statuette [12-10-7, see 12-11-38] in the filling of X-pit. In the filling of the U-pit of G 2320 [= G 5280], fragments of a beautiful alabaster statue [12-10-8]. A fragment of a similar statuette was found in the X-pit of G 2330 [= G 5380]. At the north end of G 2340 [= G 5480], another well-built mastaba projects into the street westwards, and will require to be cleared before we can finish G 2330 [= G 5380] front.

Mr. Wainwright arrived on the 9th. He has been engaged by Mr. Wellcome for the Gebel-Moya expedition, and sent to us to be instructed in our system of recording. Mr. Wainwright has worked five years with Petrie. Mr. Dixon has also been engaged by Mr. Wellcome.

An examination of G 2320 [= G 5280] serdab statue No. 6 [12-10-4] shows it was a triad - a female between two male figures [two figures of Pehenptah and his mother Amendjefaes]. Most of the fragments belong to this triad. Male head No. 3 [12-10-6] does not belong to the triad, and probably came in accidentally, like the black feet [12-10-5].

Cleared G 2331 A, and G 2332 B.

Work continued between G 2300 [= G 5190] and G 2350 [= G 5290], and between G 2310 [= G 5180] and G 2320 [= G 5280]. Both spaces filled with intrusive pits,
