themselves and all the excavation areas, has been taken from under the control of Mamur of Giza and placed directly under Cairo jurisdiction. Harvey Pasha is now in control. This change however does not include the village of Kafr-el-Haram. As soon as our men arrive work will be begun on the area west of the great mastaba, as marked out by Professor Reisner. Among the four tombs assigned for the beginning, is the one from which the stone stela was stolen last February by the Kafr-el-Haram Arabs. It was supposed at that time to have belonged inside the limits of the German concession.
We are having the same showery days, with high north and west gales that prevailed last year throughout the season.

Most of the men came down today. The barracks, which had been partly dismantled in order to build the one required last year at Zawiet has been put in shape again.
The photographic supplies have not arrived so I procured from Del Mar a few plates in order to make several views of area to be excavated. There were paper and other drawing supplies left from last season, enough
