Sunday, May 6, 1928 (continued)

(1) Street G 7500 south (continued)
Found in street debris: two worked objects of limestone [28-5-33] [ILLUSTRATION], fragment of faience ushabti [28-5-38], six fragments limestone from wall reliefs [28-5-35, 28-5-36], painted and decorated pot [28-5-41]: [ILLUSTRATION] in white and black on red ware, fragment of alabaster, broken [28-5-37], flint knife [28-5-40].

(2) G 7524
G 7524 'a': Removed stones of door blocking, some of which are obviously stones of the south wall of mastaba G 7524, fallen or taken previously from above. The debris in chamber is more than half way up the room with signs of a fair amount of water at some time. The chamber runs north some distance, and some rock-cut statues, or remains thereof, appear to be on the east wall in the distance. No inscription visible, but part of standing figures on door jamb in relief.

(3) G 7525
Removed deposit of pottery [28-5-44, 28-5-45, 28-5-46, 28-5-47, 28-5-48] which lay in the passage east of the mastaba. This path, of dubsh, appears, together with mastaba G 7525, and its walls, to be later than the original rock-cut depression and stairways of Meresankh. The north wall of G 7525 'a' is symmetrical with the similar face south of the door of Meresankh, and may have been later cut out in a niche and the east wall and south door of G 7525 made. At the same time, or later, the original rock-cut stairway east of G 7525 appears to have been built up with loose stone steps.
