Ties wooden pole to beam. The staple was inserted in holes in prodded hole. Pole covered with gold with overlapped edge on line of staples (i.e. hidden behind). The beam was sheathed with gold on sides (d), (e), and (f) shown by overlapped edges. The prongs of staples were inserted in holes in beam passing through gold sheet of (d) and hammered back and in on side (a). Rest of beam covered with gold (g), (a), (b).
staple (3) is at 16.7-19.4
staple (4) is at 114.4-117.3
In addition to these copper ties, there are three slots on the same line in side (e) and opposite these a corresponding three slots in side (d). These slots appear to be for wooden tenons ancillary to the copper ties.
(5) wooden tenon slot at 11.0-13.4 from south end
(6) wooden tenon slot at 75.2-77.7 from south end
(7) wooden tenon slot at 141.4-143.3 from south end

No. 1406 is a long sheet from side (a) of 1405. A long sheet belonging to side (b) of 1405 fits an edge of 1406 and shows three corner socket holes (one socket found) in edge between (a) and (b). Thus, if this is a roofing beam, (a) is the top side, (e) is on the bottom and the corner looking south.

Sockets are on the inside. This creates a new difficulty in the reconstruction.
