No. 1371:
(c) wood [ILLUSTRATION]. Removed wood (s) from north end to 47 cm with (11) and (14), (15). Removed wood (t) from 47 cm to 80 cm. Removed wood (u) from 80 cm to 121 cm, with (13). (11) small copper staple (see diary page 577). (13), (14), (15) small scraps of gold sheet. (12) large copper staple on side (c) at 7.8 cm from north end, (No. 1319 is a similar staple form the middle of this beam). [ILLUSTRATION]. [ILLUSTRATION] Was driven into prepared holes until the prongs protruded, the ends were then driven down and into beam towards north end. The exposed ends were covered with plaster, afterwards copper core and gold case put on. Plaster still attached to copper shows pattern of gold. Overlap piece of gold covering hole in gold sheet. Plaster partly on copper staple, partly on copper base, plain surface. The gold was put on after the staples and the sockets were in place and the copper bottom last of all. Packed up #1371 and its parts and sent them up in lift.
