came out, the potsherds were numbered in pencil; the other objects were laid each on a slip of paper bearing its number.
All the fragments of gold leaf taken out had been stripped from the objects they adorned, which were probably of wood. But no trace of wood or even decayed organic matter was found attached to them or under them.
