Wednesday, December 24, 1924 (continued)

(7) G 7320
G 7320 A: The doorway has appeared.
G 7320 B: Reached rock surface in pit B when pit ends. Never finished (cf. pit B in G 7120 and G 7130). On the north side [x] of the pit, the lining has been destroyed to rock (!) I assume that this was done by inexperienced modern thieves who finding no chamber imagined something behind this wall. I confess satisfaction at the thought of their fruitless toil.

(5) Khufu Causeway
Resumed work on the Khufu causeway and eastwards nearly to railroad embankment II. The cut deepens and is packed with stone blocks to form foundation course of causeway.

Thursday, December 25, 1924
Forty-eighth day of work.

Christmas Day.
Firth and Mrs. Firth and Howe (from Matamia) to dinner and spend the night. Mr. Cram to lunch (dropped in unexpectedly) [brother of G.W. Cram].
