Sunday, December 14, 1924 (continued)
(1) G 7120
G 7120 A: Cleared out the sand and rubbish from the large receptacle in the north wall. Began clearing the chamber (on the south). From the bottom of the doorway to the chamber downwards, the pit is filled with the "original filling". We cut into this for 50 cm without finding bottom of pit. At present we have cleared about 14 meters from top of pit.
(2) G 7130
G 7130 A: Down about 12 meters. Dirty thieves' debris all the way (modern work?)
*On top of the mastaba remains of a crude brick bin
Front of mastaba. Continued clearing as far as 1 meter south of chapel.
G 7130 X [= G 7133]. The pit adjoining chapel on south and later in date than chapel. Filled with course debris (earth, gravel, chips) possibly original fill but probably plundered anciently.
(3) Street G 7200
Clearing street G 7200, front of mastaba G 7210 and back of G 7310. On the east side of the street about 2 cm from north end of mastaba, a Ptolemaic mummy (no head, gilded strip with trace of hieroglyphs) buried in an ancient dump thrown out from G 7310 B. That plundering was therefore earlier than the Ptolemaic period. In the street debris, Old Kingdom potsherds. Elsewhere, higher up, fragment of amulets etc. of Ptolemaic-Roman period, etc. Also a faience ushabti wrapped in cloth. This latter was in a deposit as if buried recently.
(4) G 7220
G 7220 A: In pit G 7220 A, continued. Down 8 meters.
(5) Avenue G 2
Street between G 7220 and G 7230. Began clearing space between G 7220 and G 7230. Rubbish and sebbakh-siftings, fragment of alabaster jar and of a granite statue [GLYPHS].
