The original group would appear to have consisted of the 10s, 20s and 30s - four each; each about 36.5 x 15.5 meters, and each separated from its neighbors in all directions by 8 meters. The next step was the uniting of the 40s, and 20s into four double mastabas, and the casing of them. The avenue between each pair was filled in with small stones. The next step was the extension of the 30s to the south and the casing of the enlarged mastaba - in imitation or emulation of the 10s and 20s. The precise place of the large mastaba G 7510 of Hetepheres, in this development in not yet certain.
