The space between the rubble embankment and the mastaba C1 (of C) was filled with broken debris. Over this lay debris of weather decay and then the modern surface. The mud floor on the mason's debris was laid up to C1 and C2 after they were in position. The present top of the rubble embankment is a little below the foot of the dressed slope of the mastaba. The rubble embankment was built on the sand floor but was, I take it, previous in date to the dressing of the mastaba.

Continued tracing the rubble structures westward and eastward.
