The layers of organic matter were higher up than the fragments on floor.

(2) G 6030
Trenched along east face of G 6030 cutting through Old Kingdom floor to rock. The rock from the wall to edge of scarp is covered to a depth of 15-25 cm with mason's debris (clean limestone chips) the trodden surface of which forms the Old Kingdom floor.

There was no trace of any sloping passage. See 5) below.

(3) G 6040
Clearing front of group northwards reached northeast corner of G 6040.

Exposed the back of G 6041 and another rubble mastaba G 6045 built against G 6041 on the north.
G 6041 appears to be the nucleus of this complex G 6041 G 6045 etc. The f.c. of G 6040 has not been dressed. Nevertheless the Old Kingdom floor is on a level near the bottom of this f.c. and G 6041 rises from that floor.
