(2) Street G 7110 to G 7120
In afternoon put small gang to clearing space between G 7110 and G 7120. This street has been filled with a masonry structure the top of whose back wall was partly uncovered.

Twenty-first day of work.

According to the Arabic paper "El - Ahrem" of today, Lord Allenby proceeded yesterday at 5 p.m. with cavalry escort (six hundred (600) men) to the council [chamber] of the Egyptian ministry [at Parliament House] and present a strong note [(a sort of ultimatum)], demanding [(1)] punishment of the criminals, the assassins of the Sirdar [Sir Lee Stack], no matter what their rank may be; [(4)]) LE 500,000 (Egyptian pounds) fine on Egypt; [(5)] Egyptian [army], officers and soldiers in the Sudan to be ordered back to Egypt within twenty-four hours (Sudan battalions in Egypt to be returned to Sudan under officers to be designated by the Sirdar); [(2) That the Egyptian Government make an adequate and public apology for this assassination]; [(3)] all public street demonstration to be stopped [(6)]; the three hundred thousand (300,000) feddans of irrigated land in the Sudan to be increased as necessary (unlimited) [(7)]; the opposition to British representation of the interest of foreigners to be withdrawn.
For the evening, "El - Nizam" reports the reply of the Egyptian [Zaghlul] Government - accept (1) apology, (2), (3), (4), but reject (5), (6), and (7) on the plea that they violate the rights of nations.
A second member of the murder [gang] is reported to have been arrested.
A memorial meeting in Alexandria at church at time of Stack's funeral was disturbed by Egyptians shouting political cries in the street. This resulted
