Thursday, February 25, 1915
Letter from William Smith, Captain, A/Provost Marshall enclosing the notices for the guards countersigned by him, and saying that he would have an N.C.O. on duty in addition to the two mounted police.
Field gun, machines gun, and rifle practice carried on today.
Mr. Williams came up this evening with a friend and went to the Sphinx and afterwards climbed to the top of the Cheops Pyramid. Hafiz was with us, - he had brought me some cakes from the wedding feast.
Clearing pits of mastaba 2098 [= G 3098] of dark gravelly debris.
Sections X, Y, Z of white plastered chamber of mastaba 2098 [= G 3098] cleared of sand and mud debris. In each section an inscribed limestone ceremonial basin; also in section X a limestone block with a fine inscription, a stone “log” inscribed; in section Z fragments of large cylindrical pottery vase inscribed.
Finished clearing pits A and B of mastaba 2099 [= G 3099] of dark rubble debris.
