Wednesday, January 13, 1915
Cleaning out stone thieves’ trench between 5110 and massive wall. Cleaning out mud brick chapel of 4940. The upper parts of the walls have been destroyed by weather. In room B, near the doorway to C, a hole in the floor was filled with model pots and saucers. The southern part of Room C was also heaped with model pots and saucers.
Clearing out space between mastabas 4930 and 4940. At N.E corner of 4940 we found the right side of an alabaster head from a small statuette.
Cleaning northern mud-brick chapel of 4930.
Work on burial pit 5030 B, and burial pit 4930 B. In latter potsherds and fragments of a bronze bowl.
Officers of 6th Battalion A.I.F. came to see excavations. Official Egypt communication stating that Turkish attempt on Canal is expected in a few weeks. Fisher left for Mansurah to visit various sites.
