…Turks and Bedawins. He also said that some of the New Zealand troops, who left here yesterday morning, were wounded at another part of the Canal. The donkey boy at the Mena House came in shortly after the Reisners left and wanted me to go to dinner with him in Cairo. Captain Bage came to the camp in regard to making the ranges safer for the workmen; and I am to go over the works with him tomorrow morning. It is very lonesome this evening with everyone gone. I told the donkey boy that I had no money with which to go to Cairo, and he offered to lend me £5 or £10.
