- Provenance
- No provenance listed in JE; if, as seems likely, this is is the head mentioned in Hassan, Giza 9, p. 86, Hassan does not specify a findspot but tentatively identifies the individual portrayed as Nebemakhet, "who was buried nearby"; it was thus presumably found near G 8172.
- Bibliography
- Hassan, Giza 9, p. 86; pl XL, XLI
- Notes
- From excavations of Selim Hassan, 1938. Porter-Moss suggests EMC_JE_87816 may be the head of an alabaster statue found by Hassan in shaft 130; however, this is certainly not the case. (Compare Hassan, Giza 1, pl. X to photo in JE.) 87816 is more likely the head described in Hassan, Giza 9, p. 86, pl. XL and XLI.
